Only a Prank Call Prankdial.com is a website that offers a wide array of services to its users. It includes applications such as Fake Caller ID, the Ring Prank, Auto Breakup, and many others. Among the most controversial of its services is Evil Operator. This program can be accessed and used by anyone in the world. The idea of the idea of making a prank phone call through the internet has had wide appeal. The program allows you to enter in two different telephone numbers into the site. Before you click the â€Å"Send Call† button, you have two options. The first option explains â€Å"I would like to record this conversation. I agree to notify the caller they are being recorded† and the second mandatory option states â€Å"I agree to the Terms†¦show more content†¦The â€Å"evil operator† must click the button that states that the he or she will agree to notify the recipients that they are being recorded, a poor attempt by the site to establish consent with the pa rties. Since, there is no consent to be recorded, these phone calls could be prosecuted under the law (Flynn). Prankdial.com’s Terms of Service, makes it pretty clear that a user of the site is â€Å"fully accountable for the messages you send† (Terms of Service). The following represents PrankDial.com’s clever wording to express the legality in the site. By using the site, whereby one must click the â€Å"I agree to the Terms of Service† button, you agree that you are of 18 years of age, and are â€Å"responsible for using PrankDial in a manner that conforms to your local laws.† Furthermore, the site explicitly states â€Å"No Harassment,† in big bold letters. The Terms of Service states that â€Å"YOU ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED FROM USING PRANKDIAL TO THREATEN, ANNOY OR HARRASS ANY PERSON.† It continues to state the specific law that you cannot violate of New York Penal Code 653m, Subdivision B.
